CATALYZER ERROR

The diagnostic equipment signals the following error: Catalyzer

Results of the tests
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSAll OKProblems metOperation

Connect the tester (Examiner or Examiner Plus) and transcribe the errors and environmental parameters

Check for the 'Catalyzer' error only

'Upstream lambda probe' error presentSee table Z56 UPSTREAM LAMBDA SENSOR SIGNAL ERROR
'Mixture concentration' error presentSee table Z50 MIXTURE STRENGTH ERROR
The 'Misfire' error is presentSee table Z53 MISFIRE ERROR
The 'Downstream Lambda signal' error is presentSee table Z58 DOWNSTREAM LAMBDA SENSOR SIGNAL ERROR
The 'Catalyzer' error only is presentContinue to Step 1
Other errors present

Identify and eliminate the cause of the anomaly.

Continue to Step 5

1EXHAUST SYSTEM LEAKS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation

Look and listen to check the exhaust system from the cylinder head outlet to the downstream lambda probe.

Check that there are no leaks

Continue to Step 2There are leaks

Restore the exhaust system seal and replace the affected parts if necessary

Continue to Step 5

2ROAD TEST TO CHECK MIXTURE STRENGTHAll OKProblems metOperation
Road test the vehicle and check the mixture strength in the 1st and 2nd closed loops using the diagnostic equipment. Check that the activation is correctContinue to Step 3The 1st closed loop activation is not correctSee table Z56 UPSTREAM LAMBDA SENSOR SIGNAL ERROR
The 2nd closed loop activation is not correctSee table Z58 DOWNSTREAM LAMBDA SENSOR SIGNAL ERROR
3CHECKING INLET AND EXHAUST SYSTEM SEALAll OKProblems metOperation

Check the exhaust system and ensure there are no leaks from the cylinder head outlet to the upstream lambda probe

See Test 1072Ato check seal of the inlet and exhaust system

Continue to Step 4Seal not correct

Restore system seal and replace the affected parts if necessary

Continue to Step 5

4REPLACING THE CATALYZERAll OKProblems metOperation
Replace the catalyzer Op. 1076C16Continue to Step 5
5DELETING AND CHECKING ERRORAll OKProblems metOperation

Use a tester to cancel the errors in the control unit.

Carry out a road test and ensure the error does not recur

Continue to Step 6The fault persists, it is the first time that this step has been reached and the catalyzer has not yet been replacedContinue to Step 0
The fault persists, but it is the second time that this step has been reached or the catalyzer has already been replacedContact Technical Support for further information on the problem
6CHECKING CORRECT OPERATIONAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the fault is no longer presentEnd of diagnosisFault persists
