DIPPED BEAM CIRCUIT CHECK
| STEP | CHECK TO BE PERFORMED | RESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | With the ignition ON and the steering wheel stalk set to low beam, ensure the presence at Pin 1 of the 14-way headlamp connector (Master and Slave) of a voltage of +12 Volt. Move on to Step 3 | Move on to Step 2 |
| 2 | Check that the connector is correctly inserted in the other part. Try to move it from its seat by making small movements in all directions, grasping the connector body in your fingers and the wiring in your hand. The connector must stay in place. Exercise a moderate pulling force. The connector must stay in place. Check whether the power supply goes off, on and/or viceversa (touching/not touching). Pull the lead and check the stability in the groove (should not move back): exercise repeated pull-push-pull cycles on the lead and ensure its immobility. Use a lens to examine the terminal crimping area. The barrels must be turned symmetrically and three-stranded sections should not emerge from the crimping area. The area of bare wire beneath the barrel must protrude by approximately 0.5 mm The test can be considered over | Restore the continuity of the wiring between the under-dashboard junction unit and the faulty headlamp |
| 3 | Disconnect the headlamp 14-way connector (Master and Slave) Connect using an ohmmeter between Pin 14 (wiring side) of the headlamp and an Earth and check that the resistance is less than 1 Ohm | Restore the correct earth connection |
| 4 | Connect using an ohmmeter between Pin 13 (wiring side) of the headlamp and an Earth and check that the resistance is less than 1 Ohm | Restore the correct earth connection |
| 5 | Switch the headlamp stalk to low beam. heck for the presence of an earth signal at Pin 2 of connector I of the Body computer | Restore the stalk unit earth connection |
| 6 | heck for the presence of an earth signal at Pin 28 of connector G of the Body computer | Restore the wiring between the stalk unit and Body Computer |
| 7 | Check that the stalk contacts are not loose | Replace the steering column switch unit. |
| 8 | Switch the stalk to low beams and check the under-dashboard junction unit to ensure that an earth signal is present at Pin 86 of relay T1 (bottom right in the fuse unit) | Replace the Body Computer |
| 9 | In the under-dashboard junction unit, check that relay T1 (lower right in the fuse unit) is operating correctly and that the relay contacts are not defective | Replace relay T1 |
| 10 | In the under-dashboard junction unit, ensure that fuses F12 (second from the top in the right-hand row) and F13 (first from the top in the right-hand row) are continuous and correctly inserted. | Insert the fuses correctly. Replace them if necessary after identifying the reason why they blew |
