ALARM - DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

The alarm system offers the vehicle anti-intrusion protection of the following types: volumetric, perimeter, anti-tilt and surveillance of cutting the supply leads.

System operation is co-ordinated by the Body Computer, wihch sends/receives commands from external modules via the special serial line.

The system is turned on/off by means of a remote control interfaced with a receiver in the Body Computer, the remote control unit and the receiver are radio controlled.

The volumetric and anti-tilt protection can be excluded by operating a button in the front courtesy light.

After one theft attempt, a flashing code emitted by the deterrent warning light indicates the detecting sensor: this warning light also indicates the sending unit battery charge status.

The control unit is equipped with a self-diagnostic function which detects and memorises faults and problems in the control unit and system components; in addition, it checks the condition of the connecting cables and saves the number of activations and times the alarm has been operated.

The control unit operating logic can be modified in order to satisfy the legal requirements which govern the use of alarm systems in the various markets.

The alarm siren is located at the front, under the wheel arch liner on the left of the engine compartment.

The door lock system switches are used to monitor the doors and boot. A special separate switch detects bonnet closure.

The volumetric sensors check that there are no intrustions in the vehicle. They are located in the front courtesy light: they consist of a transmitter and a receiver: the wave transmitted by one transmitter must reach the receiver of the other sensor and viceversa: otherwise an alarm signal is sent to the control unit.

The anti-tilt sensor, is located in the front courtesy light; it detects the slightest variation in the angle of the vehicle in relation to either the longitudinal axis or the vertical axis.

By pressing the special button next to the sensors, both sensors can be switched on/off simultaneously; with the sensors excluded an LED next to the button comes on.

The deterrent LED is located to the side of the driver''s door safety knob: it signals the "central locking" function

See E3040 CENTRAL LOCKING

With the alarm on the LED flashes at 0.8 Hz to indicate that the vehicle is locked.

The deterrent function is also activated if one or more of the doors or the boot is not properly shut.
