COURTESY LIGHTS - DESCRIPTION
Description
The front interior light includes two courtesy lights with two control switches; the rear interior light, on the other hand, has only one courtesy light.
The control switches can be used to select the following operating modes for the front courtesy light:
- with the left switch in the centre position: the lights go on/off when the doors are opened/closed;
- with the left switched pushed towards the left: the lights are constantly off;
- with theleft switched pushed towards the right: the lights are constantly on;
With the courtesy light off, the right switch can be used to switch on the left or the right light, individually, according to the position of the actual switch.
Some models also have two different timing systems to make it easier to get in and out of the car.
The courtesy lights come on when entering the vehicle as follows:
- when the front doors are opened for 15 seconds;
- when a door is closed (within three minutes) for seven seconds.
In every case, the timing is interrupted when the ignition is switched ON.
As far as the timing of the courtesy lights on leaving the vehicle is concerned (removal of the ignition key), the switching on follows this logic:
- within two minutes of the engine being switched off for three minutes;
- when a door is closed (within three minutes) for seven seconds.
The timing ends automatically when the doors are locked.

With the courtesy light off, the right switch can be used to switch on the left or the right light, individually, according to the position of the actual switch.
The front courtesy light includes two courtesy lights and two control switches; the one at the rear, however, comprises a single light.
The following operating modes can be selected for the front courtesy light using the control switches:
- with the left switch in the middle position, the lights go on/off when the doors are opened/closed;
- with the left switch pressed towards the left, the lights are constantly off;
- with the left switch pressed towards the right, the lights are constantly on.
Using the right switch, with the courtesy light off, the left or right light can be turned on individually depending on the position of the actual switch.
There are two different timer delay modes to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier.
The front courtesy light remains on when one of the doors is closed (within three minutes of it being opened) for a period of seven seconds.
The timed delay period is always interrupted if the ignition is turned ON.
As far as the timed delay period for the courtesy light is concerned when leaving the vehicle (removing the key from the ignition), the coming on of the light follows the logic described below:
- it comes on for period of three minutes within two minutes of the engine having been switched off;
- for a period of seven seconds when one of the doors is closed (within three minutes).
The operating modes for the rear courtesy light are as follows depending on the position of the switch:
- the light comes on when the tailgate is opened if the switche is in the middle position;
- the light comes on irrespective of whether or not the tailgate is opened if the switch is in the right position;
- the light is off permanently with the switch towards the left.
The front courtesy light includes two courtesy lights and two control switches; the one at the rear, however, comprises a single light.
The following operating modes can be selected for the front courtesy light using the control switches:
- with the left switch in the middle position, the lights go on/off when the doors are opened/closed;

- with the left switch pressed towards the right, the lights are constantly on;
Using the right switch, with the courtesy light off, the left or right light can be turned on individually depending on the position of the actual switch.
There are two different timer delay modes to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier.
The front courtesy light comes on when entering the vehicle according to the following modes:
- for a period of 15 seconds when the front doors are unlocked;
- for a period of seven seconds when one of the doors is closed (within three minutes).
The timed delay period is always interrupted if the ignition is turned ON.
As far as the timed delay period for the courtesy light is concerned when leaving the vehicle (removing the key from the ignition), the coming on of the light follows the logic described below:

- for a period of seven seconds when one of the doors is closed (within three minutes).
The timed delay period ends automatically when the doors are locked.
The operating modes for the rear courtesy light are as follows depending on the position of the switch:
- the light is turned on when the rear tailgate or the sliding side doors are opened if the switch is in the middle position;
- the light comes on independently whether or not the tailgate or the sliding side doors are opened if the switch is in the right position;
- the light is off permanently with the switch towards the left.
The front interior light includes two courtesy lights with two control switches. The rear interior light consists of a single light.
The control switches may be used to select the following front courtesy light operating modes:
- with left switch in central position, the lights go on/off when the doors are opened/closed;
- with the left courtesy light pressed to the left, the lights are always off;
- with the left courtesy light pressed to the rightt, the lights are always on;
With the courtesy light off, the right switch can be used to turn on the right or left lights individually according to switch position.
Two different timing strategies are used to making it easier to get into and out of the vehicle.
The front courtesy light comes on when getting into the vehicle as follows:
- for 15 seconds when the front doors are opened;
- for seven seconds when one door is closed (within three minutes).
In each case, the timing is stopped by turning the ignition key ON.
The courtesy light timing strategy when leaving the vehicle (i.e. when the ignition key is removed) is as follows:
- within two minutes of turning off the engine for three minutes;
- for seven seconds when one door is closed (within three minutes).
The timing ends automatically when the doors are locked.
The operating strategy for the rear courtesy light depends on the key position as follows:
- light comes on when the tailgate or sliding side doors are opened if the switch is in central position;
- light comes on irrespective of whether tail-gate or sliding side doors are opened if the switch is set to the right;
- the bulb is always off with the switch to the left.
The front courtesy light includes two courtesy lights and two control switches; the ones at the rear, however, comprise a single light.
The following operating modes can be selected for the front courtesy light using the control switches:
- with the left switch in the middle position, the lights go on/off when the doors are opened/closed;
- with the left switch pressed towards the left, the lights are constantly off;
- with the left switch pressed towards the right, the lights are constantly on.
Using the right switch, with the courtesy light off, the left or right light can be turned on individually depending on the position of the actual switch.
