DRIFT WHILST BRAKING

The vehicle tends to drift to the left or the right whilst braking. If necessary, carry out a road test on a straight, flat road without transverse gradients to check the effective drift

0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

First of all, check that the tyres are the correct type, in good condition and correctly inflated.

Check that the wheel bolts are correctly fastened.

Move on to Step 11. Tyre inflation pressure not correct1. Make sure tyres are inflated to the correct pressure.
2. Tyres unsuitable or worn2. Replace the tyres
3. Wheel bolts not correctly fastened.3. Tighten the wheel studs correctly.
1BRAKING SURFACES CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check:

  • the condition of the front pads braking surfaces;
  • the condition of the rear pads braking surfaces;
Move on to Step 21. Brake surfaces vitrified or with traces of grease, oil or water1. Clean again, check and remove the causes of the fault
2. Front pads damaged or not the recommended type.

2. Replace the front pads

Op. 3310A60 FRONT BRAKE PADS - REPLACE

3. Rear pads damaged or not the recommended type.

3. Replace the rear pads

Op. 3310B62 REAR BRAKE PADS - REPLACE

2FRONT DISCS AND CALIPERS CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the condition of the front brake discs.

Check the condition of the front brake caliper pistons.

Move on to Step 31. Front discs worn or damaged

1. Regrind the discs or, if necessary, replace them

Op. 3310A48 FRONT BRAKE DISC (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R

2. Front caliper pistons worn or seized.

2. Replace the front brake calipers

Op. 3310A30 FRONT BRAKE CALIPER (ONE) - R.R

3REAR DISCS AND CALIPERS CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the condition of the rear brake discs.

Check the condition of the rear brake caliper pistons.

Move on to Step 41. Rear discs worn or damaged.

1. Regrind the discs or, if necessary, replace them

Op. 3310B48 REAR BRAKE DISC (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.

2. Rear caliper pistons worn or seized.

2. Replace the rear brake calipers.

Op. 3310B36 REAR BRAKE CALIPER (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R

4CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic test equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the tester input.

Check that there are no faults in the ABS control unit.

Move on to Step 51. Error detected in the control unit.1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. No communication with the control unit.

2. Restore connection between the ABS control unit and the diagnostic connector

See E7022 VDC

5ACTIVE DIAGNOSIS WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) and carry out the active diagnosis for:

  • Pump motor;
  • Solenoid valves.
Move on to Step 6Pump and/or solenoid valves faulty.

Replace the electronic control unit electrohydraulic unit

Op. 3340A12 ABS HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT - R.R.

6FRONT GEOMETRY CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the vehicle geometry and front wheel angles

Op. 4450A10 FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT - INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

Move on to Step 71. Geometry not correct.

1. Check and, if necessary, replace the shock absorber

Op. 4410A12 FRONT SUSPENSION DAMPER (ONE), LH OR RH - FOR MCPHERSON STRUT SYSTEM - INCLUDES DISMANTLING/REASSEMBLY OF ASSEMBLY AT BENCH - R.R

2. Geometry not correct

Check and, if necessary, replace the spring

Op. 4410A12 FRONT SUSPENSION DAMPER (ONE), LH OR RH - FOR MCPHERSON STRUT SYSTEM - INCLUDES DISMANTLING/REASSEMBLY OF ASSEMBLY AT BENCH - R.R

3. Angles not correct.

3. Restore correct angles

Op. 4450A10 FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT - INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

7REAR GEOMETRY CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the vehicle geometry and rear wheel angles

Op. 4450A40 REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

End of diagnosis1. Geometry not correct.

1. Check and, if necessary, replace the shock absorber

Op. 4420A12 REAR SUSPENSION DAMPER (ONE), LH OR RH - FOR MCPHERSON STRUT SYSTEM - INCLUDES DISMENTLING/REBUILDING OF ASSEMBLY AT BENCH R R
