General warnings

When towing the vehicle, it is compulsory to resepct specific highway code regulations relating to the tow hook and procedures for towing on the road.

Before starting to tow, make sure that the tow hook at the front of the vehicle is fully tightened or the shackle is correctly secured to the rear hook.

Clean the front threaded seat carefully before tightening the hook.

Insert the key in the switch (Teg reader) and DO NOT REMOVE IT!

If the key is removed, the steering lock will come on automatically and it will be impossible to steer the wheels.

If you need to tow a vehicle with a flat batery, release the electric steering lock by supplying the vehicle with an auxiliary battery and inserting the key in the switch (Teg reader) to release the steering lock. Then turn off the power supply without extracting the key; the electric steering lock will remain released and the car may be towed.

When towing, exercise greater force on the brake pedal and the steering wheel is stiffer because the brake servo and the power assisted steering are not operational.

The towing vehicle should be driven at as even a pace as possible to prevent counter-shocks.

Do not use flexible cables when towing and avoid jerky movements.

During towing operations, be careful that the fastening joining the joint to the vehicle does not damage adjacent components.

Do not start the engine whilst the vehicle is being towed.

For 4x4 versions, it is advisable to tow the vehicle only in one of the following ways to avoid damaging the transmission components.

- with the front wheels raised and the rear wheels standing on a trolley;

- with the rear wheels raised and the front wheels standing on a trolley;

- loaded on the bed of the rescue vehicle with all four wheels on the floor.

Observe the following instructions for vehicles with an automatic transmission:

- If possible, transport the car on the bed of a vehicle recovery truck;

- if no recovery truck is available, tow the vehicle with its drive (front) wheels off the ground;

Tow the vehicle with the transmission lever in position N.

Failure to observe the above instructions could cause severe damage to the automatic transmission.
