E2012 Main beam

Description

The car is equipped with two main beam headlamps.

The main beam headlamps are switched on:

• when the dipped beam headlamps are on, by pressing the lever towards the dashboard (stable mode)
• in "flash" mode, by pulling the lever towards the steering wheel (unstable mode)

The circuit is protected by two fuses, one for the right hand headlamp, one for the left hand headlamp.

A warning light in the panel (rev counter module) indicates that the main beam headlamps have been switched on.

The main beam headlamps circuit also provides the signal for keeping the dipped headlamps on when the main beam headlamps are on.

Description of operation

The main beam headlamps circuit is operated by the steering column switch unit H5.

When the switch is turned to the main beam position, or when the "flashing" contact is closed, the line which supplies the (left) F10 and (right) F11 headlamps receives a supply controlled by the ignition. Each circuit is protected by a fuse for the junction unit B1: F7 for the left lamp and F6 for the right one.

The suppy line for the left headlamp also sends a signal to the rev counter module E15 (pin 4 of connector B) to light up the "main beam headlamps on" warning light.

The circuit for the main beam headlamps also provides a signal (from pin 4, connector F of B1) for keeping the dipped headlamps on when the main beam headlamps are on. ( Wiring diagram E2011 DIPPED HEADLAMPS )
