Instruments – -

The gauges and warning lights on the instrument panel are clustered into four different modules.

central module

The first three are located behind the steering wheel, the fourth in the middle of the facia

The modules fitted to different versions and engine versions differ only in the type of gauge scale.

Some warning lights may not be connected in certain specifications and versions.

All the instruments (dials and gauges) are lit up with the ignition switched ON.

In the 'night' conditions (side lights on), the brightness can be adjusted to three levels by an external button.

Some specifications come in a sport version with white dials, these are not illuminated when the ignition is switched on, only when the side lights are switched on.

SPEEDOMETER
  • 1, Electronic speedometer
  • 2, Mileometer/outdoor temperature gauge
  • 3, Water in diesel warning light
  • 4, Seat belt warning light
  • 5, Brake pad wear warning light
  • 6, Glow plug warning light
  • 7, Passenger Air Bag disabled warning light

The module includes

electronic speedometer

mileometer and trip counter

outdoor temperature gauge

warning lights

The speedometer signal comes from the ABS control unit; there are three 'repeater' outputs of the signal for other systems; only two are used for the electronic fuel injection and climate control system.

The gauge display is produced by an electronic circuit inside the module.

The milometer consists of an LCD which simultaneously displays the total and trip mileage.

An external key is used to reset the trip counter and display outdoor temperature.

NOTE:

If the battery is disconnected, the trip meter is zeroed.

External temperature (in °C) can be displayed instead of mileage by adopting the following procedure:

press the button for longer than 2 seconds to reset the trip counter

press the button for less than 2 seconds to display outdoor temperature

if outdoor temperature is lower than + 3 °C, the system automatically switches to the temperature display, which flashes and shows an ice symbol to indicate the danger of an icy road surface. This message remains for 10 seconds and is repeated after

20 seconds.

This message can be cancelled by pressing the button and switching to the trip counter display.

The outdoor temperature level comes from the climate system control unit (see See sub-group 5540 Exterior lighting)

NOTE:

Because an outdoor temperature signal is not produced (in versions with heater), the temperature is not shown on the outdoor temperature display.
