CLIMATE CONTROL NOT COOLING

The fan works properly and sends air into the interior compartment in accordance with set flow patterns, but this air remains at the external temperature and is not cooled.

Cooling circuit activation enablement is controlled by the climate control and engine management control units. So if the air conditioning does not cool under particular conditions, this is correct.

Results of the tests
0PRELIMINARY CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Connect the climate control system to the repressurizing equipment and check the system pressure See Test 5040B CHECK ON OPERATION OF AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (PRESSURES)Continue to Step 1Pressure not correctEliminate leaks and top up climate control system Op. 5040A10
1CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation

Connect the examiner and check for errors at the climate control node:

  • in air mixing motors;
  • in treated air sensors;
  • in frost sensor.
Continue to Step 3Error in air mixing motors.Continue to Step 2
Error in air mixing motors.Continue to Step 2
Error in air mixing motors.Continue to Step 2
2ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation

Check continuity/insulation of electrical connection:

  • for air mixing motor(s) if there is an error at the mixing motors;
  • for the treated air sensor(s) if there is an error at the treated air sensor(s);
  • for the frost sensor if there is an error at the frost sensor.
Continue to Step 8Electrical conection broken or not insulated.Restore electrical connection continuity/insulation. See E6021 COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT
3CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation

Keeping the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected, check:

  • that there are no errors at the engine management node
  • through active diagnosis, that the compressor engagement relay is working properly, making sure, at the same time, that the compressor electromagnetic coupling is activated.
  • the correct operation of the solar sensor See Test 5040DC Check on operation of solar sensor
Continue to Step 6The relay is not activated and the coupling is not activated.Continue to Step 4
The relay is activated but the coupling is not activated.Continue to Step 5
Solar sensor defectiveReplace the sensor
4ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check continuity/insulation of compressor activation relay electrical circuit See E6021 COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENTContinue to Step 5Electrical connections broken or not insulatedRestore electrical connection continuity/insulation.
Compressor engagement relay faulty.Change compressor activation relay
5ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check the continuity/insulation of the compressor electric power circuit See E6021 COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENTContinue to Step 6Electrical connections broken or not insulatedRestore electrical connection continuity/insulation.
Electromagnetic coupling fault.Replace the compressor complete with coupling Op. 5040A20
6LINKAGE CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check air duct opening motor linkage.Continue to Step 7Linkage incorrectly connected.Restore correct fastening of linkage to motor.
Linkage damagedReplace the linkage.
7COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check compressor is properly activated by See Test 5040BC Check activation/deactivation of climate control compressor from linear sensorContinue to Step 9Compressor does not activateCheck electrical connection and restore continuity/insulation if necessary. See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING
8CHECKING CORRECT OPERATION USING TESTERAll OKProblems metOperation

Check for persistent errors:

  • at the air mixing motors (after self-learning procedure);
  • in treated air sensors
  • in frost sensor
End of diagnosisLeft air mixing motor errorReplace the left mixed air motor. Op. 5040D84
Right air mixing motor error.Replace the right mixed air motor. Op. 5040D86
Treated air sensor error.Replace the damaged treated air sensor Op. 5010D28
Frost sensor error.Change the frost sensor Op. 5040A22
9CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONAll OKProblems metOperation
Replace the linear sensor and check that the fault is no longer present.End of diagnosisFault persistsContinue to Step 10
10CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the fault is no longer presentEnd of diagnosisFault persistsChange the climate control system node Op. 5040D18
