Operation 1076B10 · EXHAUST PIPES AND SILENCERS

2.4 JTD 20V

Removing

- Position the vehicle on the lift.

See in Op. 1076B20 Rear exhaust SILENCER - R.R.

1. Undo the bolts fixing the exhaust pipe to the catalytic pre-converter flange.

2. Release the pins from the rubber mountings on the bodyshell.

3. Undo the bracket fixing nuts.

4. Lower the front section of the exhaust pipe complete with catalyzer.

Refitting

- Position the exhaust pipe and fit the pins for the front section in the rubber mountings.

- Position the exhaust pipe gaskets on the catalytic pre-converter.

- Tighten the bolts fixing the exhaust pipe to the manifold.

- Tighten the nuts fixing the reinforcement bracket to the oil sump.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

Removing

- Position the vehicle on the lift.

1. Undo the nuts fixing the exhaust pipe to the manifold.

2. Release the pins from the rubber mountings on the bodyshell.

3. Lower the front section of the exhaust pipe complete with catalyzer.

Refitting

- Position the exhaust pipe and fit the pins for the front section in the rubber mountings.

- Position the exhaust pipe gaskets on the manifold.

- Tighten the nuts fixing the exhaust pipe to the manifold.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

2.4 20V

Removing

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

- Disconnect the negative battery lead.

- Raise the vehicle.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the front Lambda sensor.

2. Disconnect the electrical connection for the rear Lambda sensor.

1. Undo the nuts (1a) fixing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold (1b).

- Raise the vehicle on the lift.

1. Remove the catalytic converter mounting bracket.

2. Release the pins from the rubber mountings on the bodyshell.

3. Lower the exhaust pipe, complete with catalytic converter, and remove it.

Refitting

- Position the exhaust pipe, complete with catalytic converter, and fit the pins for the front section in the rubber mountings.

- Fit the catalytic converter mounting bracket.

- Lower the vehicle on the lift.

- Position the gaskets between the catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold.

- Tighten the nuts fixing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.

- Connect the electrical connection for the rear Lambda sensor.

- Connect the electrical connection for the front Lambda sensor.

- Connect the negative battery lead.

- Raise the vehicle on the lift.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

2.0 TB

Removing

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) fixing the catalytic preconverter to the centre section of the exhaust pipe and keep the gasket (1b).

2. Release the pins (2a) from the pipe rubber mountings (2b).

1. Undo the fixing bolts and remove the protective brackets fastened to the underbody.

2. Undo the bolt (2a) fixing the metal collar (2b) connected to the rear silencers.

3. Release and remove exhaust pipe, complete with catalytic converter.

Refitting

- Join the rear silencers to the exhaust pipe using the metal band.

- Tighten the bolt fixing the metal collar.

- Position the brackets and tighten the fixing bolts.

- Secure the pins to the rubber mountings.

- Position the gasket.

- Tighten the bolts fixing the catalytic preconverter to the centre section of the exhaust pipe.
