INSTRUMENT PANEL - Description
Description
The gauges and warning lights which form the instrument panel are grouped in a single instrument containing:
- electronic speedometer - milometer/trip meter
- digital clock
- fuel gauge, with reserve warning light
- warning lights
The speedometer signal comes from the sensor on the gearbox, this signal is 'repeated' for other functions which require the information.
The milometer consists of an LCD which alternately shows the total and trip mileage or the outside temperature.
The clock is digital and is adjusted through the two buttons in the centre/lower part of the actual instrument marked 'h' and 'min'.
The fuel level is displayed by means of electronic circuitry inside the module which operates the gauge and the reserve warning light (when the gauge is at 1/8 of its travel). The internal logic 'damps' the signal avoiding fluctuations.
The warning lights consist of LEDs built into the electronic circuit, and so cannot be replaced.
The operation of the warning lights which are not included in other functions are illustrated in depth:
- insufficient brake fluid level/handbrake;
- minimum oil pressure;
- brake pad wear warning light
- seat belt not fastened warning light
The others are described and illustrated in the diagrams dealing with the components to which they refer:
- direction indicators (See E2020 DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS)
- side lights (See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS)
- trailer lights (preparation) (See E2020 DIRECTION INDICATORS / HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS)
- main beam headlamps (See E2012 MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS)
- CODE failure (See E7010 CODE)
- recharging (See E5010 STARTING AND RECHARING)
- injection system failure (See E5030 PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENTorSee E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT)
- engine overheating (See E5030 PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENTorSee E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT)
- glow plug preheating (See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT)
- Air Bag failure (See E7030 AIRBAG)
- passenger Air Bag disabling (See E7030 AIRBAG)
- ABS failure warning light (See E7020 ABS)
The instrument is lit up when the ignition is ON and the light is dimmed with the side lights signal.
The instrument has direct supply lines and supply lines controlled by the ignition protected by two fuses located in the junction unit.

The fuel level is displayed by means of electronic circuitry inside the module which operates the gauge and the reserve warning light (when the gauge is at 1/8 of its travel). The internal logic 'damps' the signal avoiding fluctuations.
The methane level is displayed via electronic circuitry inside the actual module which operates the 6 green LEDs proportionally to the pressure measured in the methane circuit. A seventh, amber coloured, LED indicates the 'reserve'.
The internal logic 'dampens' the signal, preventing fluctuations (e.g. the reading changes when the signal persists for at least 250 msec.).
The reserve warning light comes on when the last of the green LEDs is still on: the last green LED switching off, on the other hand, means that the methane is completely used up and the system automatically switches over to running on petrol with the appropriate warning light coming on.
The warning lights consist of LEDs built into the electronic circuit, and so cannot be replaced.
The operation of the warning lights which are not included in other functions are illustrated in depth:
- insufficient brake fluid level/handbrake;
