Thermostat unit - r + r with cylinder head removed

Removing

1. Position the cylinder head in the vice, supporting it with a suitable tool.

2. Remove the thermostat and the gasket underneath by undoing the bolts shown.

Removing

1. Position the cylinder head in the vice, supporting it with a suitable tool.

2. Unscrew the retaining nuts.

3. Remove the thermostat from the cylinder head.

Removing

1. Loosen the bands and remove the coolant supply hose from the thermostat to the E.G.R. system exhaust gas/water heat exchanger.

2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the thermostat (2b) complete with O-Ring.

Refitting

Position the thermostat in the housing in the cylinder head, having first replaced the relevant seal. Secure the thermostat using the relevant bolts.

Remove the cylinder head from the vice and then remove the supporting tool from the cylinder head.

Refitting

Position the thermostat in the housing in the cylinder head, having replaced the seal first.

Tighten the retaining nuts to torque.

Remove the cylinder head from the vice and then remove the supporting tool from the cylinder head.

Refitting

1. Refit in its seating the thermostat (1a) complete with O-ring and secure it with its bolts (1b) to the specified torque.

2. Refit the coolant supply hose between the thermostat and the E.G.R. system exhaust gas/water heat exchanger and secure it using the bands.
