CONNECT POWER SUPPLY CHECK
Check 5580PO
1.9 JTS, 2.2 JTS, 3.2 JTS, 1.9 JTD 8V, 1.9 JTD 16V, 2.4 JTD 20V
the Connect can be switched on manually, using the left knob or automatically with the key ON signal. If the Connect has been turned off manually (using the left knob), before turning the ignition OFF, it will not come out automatically at the next key ON.
| STEP | CHECK TO BE CARRIED OUT | SOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK |
| 1 | Check power supply (+15)
- With the ignition ON, check that the correct battery voltage is present between pins 4 and 8 of the 8-way Connect connector and earth.
- Check the connector is correctly inserted in the other part.
- Try to move it from its seat by shifting it by a small amount in all directions, holding the connector case in your fingers and the wiring in your hand. The connector should remain in place
- Apply a moderate pulling force. The connector should remain in place
- check whether the power supply turns off, turns on and/or vice versa (touching/not touching)
- subject the cable to a pulling force and check cable stability (no shrinkage): apply repeated pull-push-pull cycles to the cable and check it remains immobile.
Examine the crimping:
- Use a magnifying glass to examine the terminal criming area. The barrels must be turned symmetrically and three-stranded sections should not emerge from the criming area. The area of bare wire beneath the barrel must emerge by approximately 0.5 mm
|
- Replace the 7.5A fuse F 49 located in the CPL, after identifying the cause
- Restore the wiring if defective
|
| 2 | Check earth
Disconnect 8-way connector A and connect an ohmmeter accross pin 8 and earth and check the resistance is lower than 1 ohm | Restore the correct earth connection between pin 8 and the earth point in the right dashboard area |
| 3 | Check power supply +30
- Check that the correct battery voltage is present between pins 7 and 8 of the 8-way Connect connector and earth.
- Check the wiring continuity
|
- Replace the 15A fuse F 23 located in the CVM, after identifying the cause
- Restore the wiring if defective
|
| 4 | Check fuse
- Check the condition of the fuse located at the back of the Connect.
|
- If burnt out, search for the cause of the problem and replace it.
|
| 5 | Check action of protection
- Disconnect Connector 8-way connector B. Turn the Connect off and on. Check whether one of the components (CD Changer, amplifier, sound boxes, etc.) is causing the radio fuse to blow.
|
- Replace defective speakers
- Replace the defective amplifier
Op. 5570T36 AMPLIFIER FOR SPEAKER SYSTEM - R+R
Op. 5570T85
- If none of the above steps has highlighted problems with the signals and the Connect continues not to switch on then it is defective.
