E3070 Cigarette lighter/power socket (S.W.)
Description
There are three ashtrays in the car: one is in the centre of the dashboard, and two are in the rear doors.
The front ashtray is lit up when the side lights are on (). it houses a standard power point; the ring round the power point is lit with the side lights on. The cigar lighter resistance is located in the socket, but it can be used for connection to other instruments or equipment (provided they operate at 12 V). To operate the cigar lighter, simply press the knob: after a few seconds it pops out automatically, ready for use.
The socket has a heat protection device: if devices with high energy absorption are connected, this protection cuts off the supply.
The current socket circuit is protected by a special fuse and is operated by the relay which is excluded when the ignition is switched on and is located in the junction unit.
One more power point is also present in the luggage compartament, with similar specifications to those of the cigar lighter; The power point circuits are protected by a specific fuse.
All power points are supplied only with the ignition turned on.
Description of operation
The power socket / cigarette lighter P50 is supplied (at pin 2) by the line controlled by the ignition (INT/A) for the relay R1 protected by the fuse F15: both are housed in the junction unit B1.
Pin 3 of socket P50 provides the earth from C20.
The ring nut for the power socket is lit up (at pin 1) when the side lights are on by means of the line coming from the steering column switch unit H5 switch and is protected by the controls illumination fuse F4 of the additional fuse unit B98B.
The same supply line with the side lights on also lights up the ashtray light G35.
Rear power point P52 is supplied at pin 2 of ignition-operated line (INT/A) via a dedicated fuse. The ring nut for the power socket is lit up (at pin 1) when the side lights are on by means of the line coming from the steering column switch unit H5 switch and is protected by the controls illumination fuse F4 of the additional fuse unit B98B.
