STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT NOT WORKING

The axial/vertical adjustment of the steering wheel is carried out by means of the control located at the side of the steering column connected to the Steering Position Node.

The Steering Position Node is, in turn, connected to the axial/vertical adjustment motors and the potentiometers connected to the two motors are designed to memorize the position of the steering column.

When the speed of the vehicle exceeds 10 Km/h the adjustment of the steering column by recalling the position memorized is not possible.

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT.ALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment to the diagnostic connect and check the following at the Driving Position NodeIn errors ambient

  • that there are no faults

In parameters ambient

  • the plausibility of the steering column parameter (UP/DOWN/FORWARD/BACKWARD)

In active diagnosis ambient

  • the operation of the axial/vertical steering wheel adjustment motor
Move on to Step1. Presence of errors1. Continue following the instructions for the equipment

2COMPONENT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Remove the steering column adjustment control and check that it is working.

Continue following the instructions in the test 4110AA

3ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the continuity/insulation between:

  • adjustment control and steering position node
  • adjustment control and dashboard/rear coupling
  • dashboard/rear coupling and driver's seat coupling
  • driver's seat coupling and Steering Position Node
