A pedal assembly, separated from the power unit, has been adopted on all vehicles, consisting of a mounting with the clutch and accelerator pedals made from plastic with the brake pedal remaining in steel. The solution adopted has been it possible to fit a 8" + 9" increased brake servo and produce a significant reduction in weight.

The pedal assembly ratio between the travel of the brake pedal and the sliding of the piston in the master cylinder allows the specifications of the brake servo to be exploited better as well as offer gentle, optimum braking.

The arrangement of the pedals has been improved, in terms of ergonomics, taking into considerations values that measure the angles of the heel and the position of and space between the actual pedals.

The accelerator pedal incorporates two potentiometers, a main one and a safety one, which transmit the extent of the movement of the actual pedal to the control unit which implements the consequent throttle opening.

  • 3 Pedal assembly for version with manual gearbox

The brake pump is an integral part and comes with the brake servo.

(See assembly ) 3330D BRAKE VACUUM SYSTEM

The hydraulic braking system reserve fluid reservoir is a press fit on the top part of the pump.

There is an attachment on the reservoir for connecting the hydraulic clutch release system supply pipe.

(See assembly ) 1820B CLUTCH RELEASE HYDRAULIC OPERATION

There is an insufficient fluid level sensor in the reservoir that is activated when the fluid is below the minimum level. The insufficient fluid level conditions are signalled the moment a magnet, in the float in the reservoir, finds itself by the sensor, and the device notifies the Body Computer which causes the warning light in the instrument panel to come on.

Specifications
  • A - Brake pump
  • 1 Brake fluid reservoir
  • 2 Insufficient fluid level indicator
  • 3 Clutch pump supply pipe attachment
  • 4 MAX fluid level
  • 5 MIN fluid level
  • 6 Brake servo

The vacuum braking system consists of an intake manifold which supplies the necessary vacuum for the operation of the brake servo to which it is connected by a pipe and the pump also known as the master cylinder fitted on the brake servo.

The pump is connected by two pipes, each of which suppiles a section of the crossover circuit, to the ABS electro-hydraulic control unit.

(See subassembly ) 3340 ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (A.B.S.)

On versions equipped with the ESP function, the pump and the control unit supply pipes are larger because this type of system has a greater fluid capacity.

To facilitate servicing fitting operations, the pipes have a flexible section.
