INTRODUCTION

The description below refers to the 2.2 16v JTD version but, with the exception of the swirl function, it is also valid for the 2.0 16v JTD version

In response to the performance requirements for diesel engines as far as power, consumption and driving comfort are concerned an electronically controlled, high pressure injection system has been developed, designed for direct injection diesel engines.

As far as pollution control legislation is concerned, in addition to the EGR function there is also a filtering system for keeping down particle levels known as FAP.

This system makes it possible to reduce the level of particles present in the exhaust gases by more than 95%.

The Engine Management Node (NCM) implements the digital electronic management of the data for the regulations circuits and the electrical actuators that affect engine operation, combustion and emissions.
