Description

A control system known as SELESPEED supervises and regulates the operation of the manual gearbox by means of an electrohydraulic device.

An electronic control unit manages a complex operating logic that allows the gearbox to be used in both "semiautomatic" conditions and in an automatic mode that delegates the management of gear changes to an electronic system.

The electronic control unit converses with the engine management control unit via the CAN and two dedicated lines, one for the engine rpm signal, one for the fault diagnosis.

The control unit operates an electro-hydraulic unit located on the gearbox, via a special electric pump, according to a complex operating logic.

The power supply lines for the control unit and the various system components (sensors and actuators) are protected by two fuses located in the junction unit under the dashboard.

A special maxifuse in the engine compartment junction unit supplies the line for the system control pump.

The autodiagnosis of the control unit indicates the source of these faults by turning on an instrument panel warning light. The SELESPEED control unit also sends the instrument panel information concerning the gear engaged which is shown in the display. For more details,
