FUEL ODOURS FROM THE BOOT

2.2 JTS, 3.2 JTS

When the vehicle is moving there is a smell of fuel, especially after refilling, coming from the rear area.

0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	First of all, check that there are no leaks from or damage to the fuel tank	Move on to Step 1	Leaks from the fuel tank	Restore the correct seal for the fuel tank. If necessary, replace it Op. 1040A14 FUEL TANK - R + R FOR REPLACEMENT
1	AIR OUTLET VENTS CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the rear air outlet vents. In particular, check: - the positioning of the fins (they should open outwards) - the correct fitting	Move on to Step 2	Problems with the fitting	Restore the correct positioning of the vents Op. 5010C60 LH OR RH REAR AIR OUTLET VENT (ONE) - R.R
2	TANK BREATHER CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the fuel tank breather is correctly positioned	Move on to Step 3	Breather position incorrect	Restore the correct position of the breather
3	TANK FILLER CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the tank filler. More specifically: - seal of the filler housing in the wing - condition of the filler - seal of the cap	Move on to Step 4	Filler faulty	Renew the filler. If necessary, replace it Op. 1040A30 FUEL FILLER PIPE ASSEMBLY- R + R
		Move on to Step 4	Cap faulty	Replace the cap Op. 1040A40 PLUG FOR FUEL FILLER PIPE - R + R
4	FUEL PUMP COVER CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the seal of the fuel pump cover	Move on to Step 5	Seal worn	Replace the seal Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R
	Check the seal of the fuel pump cover	Move on to Step 5	Cover damaged	Replace the cover Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R
5	FUEL VAPOUR RECOVERY SYSTEM CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the seal of the fuel vapour recovery system	Move on to Step 6	Leaks from the fuel vapour recovery system	Tighten the connectors and bands. Replace any faulty components, if necessary. Op. 1080E EVAPORATION CONTROL SYSTEM
6	BOOT HOUSING SEAL CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the boot housing seal is correct	Move on to Step 7	Boot housing seal faulty	Check that the boot housing seal is correct
