FRONT ELECTRIC WINDOWS - DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The electric windows for the front doors are operated through the switches on the driver''s door (both windows) and the passenger side (passenger side only).
The control units in the door control the operation of the driver''s and passenger side electric window motors which are operated both manually and automatically depending on the version.
Automatic operation takes place as follows:
- if the button is pressed is between 60 and 300 milliseconds, operation is manual: the glass goes up/down only with the key pressed;
- f the key is pressed for longer than 300 milliseconds, operation is automatic: even if the button is released, the glass continues to move up/down until the end of travel position is reached or until the intervention of the anti-crush safety system (if fitted);
- pressing the button again whilst the window is moving stops it in the position it is in;
- if the button is pressed for less than 60 milliseconds, this is ignored (it is treated as an accidental knock).
When the doors are opened (whether with key-on or key-off status), the door nodes implement the short drop function to prevent interference between windows and roof.
The short drop position is set at 10 mm from the window full closure position.
In detail: if the glass is rising when the door is opened, the window opens to the short drop position and not to the full closure position. If the position of one or both of the window glasses is already at the level of the short drop position, no automatic movement takes place.
Each control unit in the door also manages the anti-crush safety function: it acquires information concerning the possible presence of an obstacle whilst the glass is closing: two Hall effect sensors are built into the motor: under these circumstances the control unit immediately intercepts the travel of the glass and reverses it until it is in the bottom end of travel position. The correct operation of the anti-crush sensor is controlled by the control unit check function: in the case of a failure this information is sent via the CAN to the instrument panel to show the information on the display.
In addition, if a fault is detected, the control unit inhibits the automatic raising operation only allowing it in steps of 500 ms each time the button is pressed.
In this case the system must be initialized once again following the instructions in
See descriptions 7005 PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FRONT SIDE DOORS
The windows are automatically opened or closed through the special prolonged (more than 2 seconds) command sent by the TEG remote control button.
The circuit is protected by two special fuses in the boot control unit.
The driver''s door control unit acquires both the driver''s front door and passenger side front door commands; it manages the movement of the driver''s window directly and sends the relevant movement commands for the passenger side window via the CAN to the passenger door control unit which manages the passenger side window directly.
