ENGINE COOLANT CONSUMPTION

2.2 JTS, 3.2 JTS

Coolant consumption is high (frequent topping up is required)

0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Bleed the air and check the fault does not recur.	End of diagnosis	The fault recurs	Move on to Step 1
1	CHECK ON THE EFFICIENCY OF THE EXPANSION TANK CAP	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the efficiency of the expansion tank cap.	Move on to Step 2	Cap inefficient.	Replace the cap.
2	COOLING SYSTEM LEAKAGE TEST	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the seal of the cooling system Op. 0510C30 ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM - LEAKAGE TEST	Move on to Step 3	There are engine cooling system leaks.	Proceed as instructed in the See table X10 ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
3	CHECK FOR GURGLING	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that no gurgling or oil is present in the coolant reservoir.	Move on to Step 4	Presence of fluid or air bubbles: head gasket damaged.	Replace the damaged gasket.
4	CHECK CYILNDER HEAD HYDRAULIC SEAL	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the hydraulic seal of the cylinder head.	Move on to Step 5	Seal not efficient.	(only for 3.2 V6 version) Remove the cylinder head Op. 1016C10 SINGLE CYLINDER HEAD - R.R. AND REPLACE GASKET (only for 3.2 V6 version) Replace the head Op. 1016D10 CYLINDER HEAD – R.R. AND REPLACE GASKETS
5	CHECK ENGINE MONOBLOC HYDRAULIC SEAL	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check the hydraulic seal of the monobloc	Move on to Step 6	Seal not efficient.	Replace the monobloc
6	CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the fault is no longer present.	End of diagnosis	The fault persists.	Contact Technical Service for further information on the problem.
