About Saturn

GM set up Saturn in January 1985 as "a different kind of car company" to take on Japanese imports, with its own cars, dealers, no-haggle pricing, workforce and plant at Spring Hill, Tennessee. Its first cars arrived five years later, with dent-resistant plastic body panels on a spaceframe. Over time it was folded back into GM and used more shared GM models, and the brand closed in 2010.

Shared with other GM cars

• Vue was the first vehicle on GM's Theta platform, which also carried the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent; the second-generation Vue was a rebadged Opel Antara.
• Aura uses the Epsilon platform of the Pontiac G6, Chevrolet Malibu and Saab 9-3.
• Sky roadster was built at Wilmington, Delaware, alongside the Pontiac Solstice.
