About Pontiac

GM introduced Pontiac in 1926 as a companion make to Oakland, which it replaced entirely by 1933. The name comes from the Odawa chief Pontiac. From the 1960s it billed itself as GM's "performance division", slotting above Chevrolet. GM dropped the brand during its 2009 restructuring, and the last Pontiac, a white G6, was built on 4 January 2010.
