About Mini
The original Mini was made by the British Motor Corporation from 1959, and its sporty versions carried the Cooper name. After buying Rover Group, BMW kept the Mini brand when it sold the rest, and launched the new Mini in 2001, built at the former Morris plant in Cowley, Oxford.
Good to know
- The first-generation new Mini is the R50 (Cooper) and R53 (supercharged Cooper S), with the R52 convertible from 2004. The second generation of 2006 is the R56, with the R57 convertible from 2008.
- The code in brackets after the engine in each title is the engine type, such as W11 for the supercharged first-generation Cooper S and N14 for the later turbocharged one.
